The World Federation of Trade Unions, on behalf of its 105 million workers who live, work and struggle in 130 countries of the globe, expresses its sincere internationalist solidarity with the people of Fiji affected by the category five winds of Tropical Cyclone Yasa.
According to the information, at least 4 people lost their lives and the damage is estimated to be hundreds of millions of dollars. Our thoughts are with the people who lost their loved ones and those who saw their houses and their properties to be suddenly disappeared.
The International class-oriented trade union movement demands the immediate provision of accommodation, food and clothes to all those who need them, as well as full rehabilitation – compensation for the victims. The WFTU will continue and intensify its struggle for timely, and effective protective measures in all aspect of the people’s lives.
