Heavy floods afflict the southern provinces of Thailand since the begging of the New Year 2017. The poor people who live in the lowest Southern part of the county are helpless during the disasters that are caused by the floods. At least 11 people lost their lives and about 15 billion baht is the cost of the flood damages. The lack of adequate protection measures also contributed to the losses.
The World Federation of Trade Unions representing 92 million workers in the 5 continents stands on the side of the workers and the poor citizens of Southern Thailand, demanding the immediate implementation of adequate security measures in order to guarantee the security of the citizens’ lives. At the same time, the authorities should be ready to start the recovery of the southern country with the financial support of the affected people.
