The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing more than 95 million workers in 130 countries on the five continents, honors the Palestinians Land Day, commemorated since March 30th 1976, when the Israeli police shot and killed six Palestinians who were protesting against the Israeli governments’ expropriation of thousands of acres of Palestinian land, while hundreds of other Palestinian protesters were injured.
On the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the Land Day, the WFTU honors all the Palestinian workers who devoted their life to the fight against Israeli occupation and injustice.
We once more strongly denounce the murdering of more than 258 Palestinians since last March by the Israeli army, because they demand the return of the Palestinian Refugees to their homeland. We condemn the escalation of Israeli and US violence against the Palestinian people, like the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the decision to move the US embassy there, the recognition by the US of the seized Golan heights as Israel’s territories, the ongoing air strikes on the Gaza Strip and the threats of the Israeli Prime Minister to start a large scale military operation in the region.
The WFTU reiterates its internationalist solidarity with the People of Palestine and stably supports their right to the recognition of a Palestinian State on the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
