The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), representing 95 million workers in 130 countries of the whole world, condemns the NATO plans in Eastern Mediterranean on the aftermath of the 20th March meeting that was held between Greece’s PM A. Tsipras, Cyprus President, N. Anastasiadis, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and US Secretary of State, Michael Pompeo in Jerusalem.
The workers of the world are well aware of what imperialist businness mean for Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean. More wars, more refugees, new border changes and new bombings are the “price” that people have to pay for capitalist gains.
The working class of Cyprus, Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean people in general it is more necessary than ever to intensify their struggle for a world without imperialist wars, without poverty and exploitation. This is the true interest of the working class in the region and this is what the organized class-oriented labour movement must fight for.
The peoples of the broader region have nothing positive to expect from meetings where leaders such as mr. Netanyahu and Pompeo are present, both known from the crimes committed against the heroic Palestinian people.
