The World Federation of Trade Unions, on behalf of its more than 97 million workers who live, work and struggle in 130 countries of the 5 continents, expresses its support and internationalist solidarity to the working class of Indonesia and its militant demonstrations against the anti-labor policies and the authoritarianism of Indonesia government.
The international class-oriented trade union movement stands on the side of the Indonesian workers and students who are escalating their protests and organize their struggle against the austerity economic policy and the revision of the Labor Law. We clearly and strongly condemn any attempt for the widening of the labor-market flexibility, reduction of the workers’ wages and rights and elimination of the trade union freedoms.
At the same time, the WFTU condemns the increasing bloody repression from the government and the riot police against the people’s mobilization. We call upon the workers of Indonesia to continue and strengthen their fair struggle and we assure them that can rely on the support of the WFTU until the full satisfaction of their demands.
