On September 16, thousands of workers protested in Brussels against the planned closure of an Audi production site, which would result in the loss of approximately 3,000 jobs.
This development is taking place in the wider frame of Volkswagen’s plans (Audi’s parent company) to decline its operation in Europe, even though Volkswagen paid out record dividends of 12 billion euros in 2023.
The message loudly heard by thousands of protesters in the heart of the European Union is that the workers are ready to struggle and defend their jobs and lives.
The World Federation of Trade Unions expresses its undivided support and solidarity with the workers who rightfully took the streets and struggle and the working class of Belgium in general.
