The rail workers in the UK are intensifying their fight by organizing a strike on October the 1st, as a continuation of the ongoing struggle for collective agreements and an increase in wages.
These demands are crucial in a time when inflation and high living costs are suffocating the working class, deteriorating their living condition. The WFTU affiliate, RMT, called for a strike on October 1st, and thousands of workers will walk out as a militant and decisive response to the slanders and threats they faced by the business groups. The WFTU condemns the unacceptable attempts to silence the workers and salutes the unbowed rail workers as well as RMT for its leading role in this just fight.
The WFTU expresses its firm internationalist solidarity with the rail workers and fully supports their just demands, especially at a time when the companies are gaining millions in profits and the workers are suffering the aftermath of the new capitalist crisis and inflation.
Long live the struggle of the rail workers!
