The international class-oriented trade union movement reaffirms its constant demand for collective agreements, in all sectors and countries, that provide dignified wages that satisfy the contemporary worker’s needs, and they won’t be violated by the employers.
We condemn the obvious violation of the collective contracts in the construction sector in Australia which resulted in a total amount of $6 billion unpaid wages, as many workers remain unpaid or are paid only a part of their salaries. The Australian Building and Construction Commission is proven that it not only does not ensure the respect and implementation of the collective agreements but, in fact, encourages their violation by the construction companies.
The World Federation of Trade Unions, bringing together more than 100 million workers in 132 countries, joins its voice with the construction workers and their unions. We demand the immediate payment of the unpaid wages, the ensuring of the respect and the implementation of the collective agreements without exceptions or exemptions and dignified working and living conditions for all the workers.
