The 2015 session of the WFTU Presidential Council started this morning, June 6th 2015, in Geneva, Switzerland. Members of the WFTU presidential council and observers from the 5 continents gathered to discuss on the WFTU’s report of action and decide on the WFTU action plan for the coming period. The session opened with the main intervention by WFTU General Secretary George Mavrikos.
A special moment during the Presidential Council Session was the delivery of 3 portable computers to the CTC of Cuba, to be delivered to the Cuban Unit of Medical Collaboration, the Cuban agency that organizes the solidarity missions of Cuban doctors all over the world, like recently in West Africa (during the Ebola epidemic) and Nepal after the catastrophic earthquake. The delivery of the computers was a symbolic gesture of the WFTU as a token of recognition and solidarity and internationalism with the Cuban people, who besides the blockade of imperialism, for more than 50 years, have manages to support and offer their solidarity and internationalism to the peoples in need all over the world.
The session concludes tomorrow with the adoption of the WFTU action plan and the voting of various important resolutions.
