The World Federation of Trade Unions, which represents 105 million workers in over 130 countries worldwide, denounces the police repression against militant trade unionists in France, which has been raging for several months, following the struggle against the pension reform that Macron has imposed by force.
We send our fraternal and militant support to Sébastien Menesplier, General Secretary of the CGT Energy Federation (which includes several unions affiliated to the WFTU) and member of the bureau of the CGT Confederation, one of the leaders of the struggle against the reform, who is being arbitrarily called in on September 6 by the police from his home.
The WFTU demands that Sébastien Menesplier’s summons be cancelled and that no proceedings be taken against him. The WFTU demands an end to all police and disciplinary proceedings for strike action, which are hitting trade unionists in France following the movement against Macron’s anti-worker laws!
Hands off militant trade unionists: Long live international solidarity in defense of trade union freedoms!
