The World Federation of Trade Union representing more than 97 million workers in 130 countries all over the world, strongly condemns the reported decision of Baluchistan High Court that bans the Trade Unions in the public sector. If this decision is confirmed, is an unacceptable anti-labor and anti-trade union attack against the working class of Pakistan and the human rights of the people of Pakistan.
The Trade Union rights, freedoms, and achievements have been earned with long-lasting militant and relentless struggles of the workers. The trade union rights were forged with the blood of the pioneers trade unionists and there is not any court, government or international organization that has the right to abolish or eliminate the rights of the workers.
The International class-oriented trade union movement in line with its 74-year history and its fundamental principles, struggles for the safeguarding and increasing of trade union rights and freedoms and denounces every effort and policy that aims to the elimination of the workers’ rights and achievements.
The WFTU calls the class-oriented trade union movement and the working class of Pakistan to actively defend the trade unions rights, the right to strike and the right to being unionized and they will always have the support and the solidarity of the 97 million workers of the WFTU.
