USB: 8 November national industry strike defending ourĀ country’s industry, we demand wage increases and more rights
8 November is a day of mobilisation and strike for the entire Italian industrial sector.
Mobilisations in many cities, which affects most of the large industrial companies in particular. From Marcegaglia to Stellantis, from Acciaierie d’Italia to Piaggio.
Against the war economy into which the Meloni government is dragging us in deference to European diktats. Industry in our country risks being overwhelmed by the crisis in a total absence of industrial policies, of extraordinary intervention in strategic sectors. The discussion with the government was useless, the answers are few and contradictory, and the forthcoming budget manoeuvre makes it clear how the Meloni government has chosen the path of strengthening military spending to the detriment of sectors such as automotive and steel from which important resources are being taken away.
On the other hand, USB demands an extraordinary plan for the automotive industry, public intervention here and in the strategic steel industry, where the Ex-Ilva dispute is the main cause, which seems destined for a total sale to the private sector and a state that is completely dispossessed of its shares.
Moreover, the industrial policies of this country cannot but be associated with a clear policy of increasing rights and wages.
USB believes that industrial, digital and ecological transitions cannot be paid for by the workers.
Instead, the process of innovation and investment is necessary and must start with the workers and the work. Otherwise the outcomes are the nefarious ones seen in Toyota Handling in Bologna: people die even in companies of excellence.
Defending Industry
Save jobs
Raise wages.
The industry strike therefore becomes an important intermediate moment of struggle within the confederation of USB, even after the important mobilisation of the civil service on 31 October.
The workers of this country need a different union, one that fights and does not give in, one that does not sign non-returnable contracts and can be consistent in its choices today.
Forward all, to the struggle.
Friday 8 November national strike!
