The World Federation of Trade Unions representing 86 million workers in 120 countries expresses its solidarity to the struggles of the Turkish people and denounces in the strongest way the fierce state violence of the Turkish State and Government against the demonstrators.
Since Friday, May 31st, when a group of protesters at the Gezi Square condemning the decision of building a Mall at the park, were attacked by the riot police, the demonstrators contemning the state violence have grown continuously. So has the response from the riot police who has attacked violently the demonstrations with water canons and tear gas.
The frustration of the Turkish people and the massive participation in the demonstrators shows the deep inequalities in the Turkish society where the labour and social rights are under attack.
Hundreds of people are reported to be injured while the number of dead is also increasing.
We call upon the Turkish Government to stop the violence against the people.
The World Federation of Trade Unions expresses its support and solidarity to the Turkish People and the working class of Turkey.
The state violence will only take its response with the organized, fearless response of the people in struggle.
