A delegation of Soma and Ermenek miners, who have marched to Ankara for their unpaid salaries and compensation since 2014, met with Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu on November 16th. The miners announced that Soylu had promised a “solution” until January 15.
The WFTU affiliated Independent Miners Union (Bağımsız Maden Işçileri Sendikası) stated that Soylu promised to solve the unpaid compensation and salary problem as soon as possible and said, “Give me a period of time until the 15th of January. We will definitely produce a solution before this deadline is reached.”
Karaman Governor was also called about the solution of the dismissal and missing wages of Ermenek miners and was told to resolve this issue within two days.
The miners state that they will actively follow the process until the 15th of January and if the solution is not realized, they will start the Ankara march on January 16.
The world, class-oriented trade union movement reiterates its solidarity with Soma and Ermenek miners and joins their voice with them for the immediate fulfillment of their demands.
