The Trade Union International of Public and Allied Employees (TUI –PS-S) for Europe, at its Conference held on October 26 and 27, in Rome, and in view of a transversal and generalized shutting down of Public Services, to answer the needs of big transnational monopoly capital, always ready to transform those State services into lucrative businesses – namely in the areas of Health, Education, Social Security and Tax offices, in central and local administrations – with great consequences in terms of labour rights, drop in employment and dismissal processes, considers that only the struggle and organized force of all Trade Unions can stop this brutal attack on the rights of the workers and peoples.
The perverse effects of this policy – whereby capitalist monopolies dominate the States and the governments satisfy the interests of big business, for easy and quick profits – appear, namely:
. In the shutting down and handing/privatization of public services to private monopolies;
. In the exploitation of workers, with the destruction of rights won through struggles all over Europe, after World War II;
. In the end of labour with rights – notably in this sector, by bringing down the cost of labour;
. In the precarization of labour status;
. In resorting to companies that subcontract workers;
. In the loss of pension rights, with the increase of the time needed to obtain retirement rights and the reduction of their value.
Hence, TUI – PS-S for Europe calls on all Trade Unions and workers, particularly those in the European Public Administration – central, regional and local – to mobilize and actively participate in the action of struggle, with the aim of handing a resolution to the European Union Offices in each of the member countries.
