The World Federation of Trade Unions, militant voice of more than 105 million workers in 133 countries all over the globe, extends its solidarity with the Haitian and other migrants trying to pass from Ciudad Acuña, Mexico to Texas, USA.
Almost 10.000 migrants stay there in miserable conditions, while a few days ago US horseback border guards chased them with ropes and whips and tried to destroy their camp. Migrants are being arrested and either deported to Haiti or sent to detention centers.
The People of Haiti, who are among the poorest of the world, have been recently hit by storms and an earthquake which killed more that 2.000 and left hundreds of thousands homeless. However, Biden administration treats Haitian migrants inhumanly, indifferent for their protection and relief.
We call upon the working class and militant trade unions of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the ones of the USA, to struggle for the rights and protection of Haitian workers, of migrant workers in every country of the Americas. To fight against racism and the causes that create migrants and refugees, which are none other than poverty, imperialist wars and exploitation.
