The WFTU greets the employees in the public sector banks, the private banks and the foreign banks operating in India who have joined in massive numbers the two-days banking strike called by the UFBU (United Forum of Bank Employees), an umbrella organization of bank employees and officers.
The WFTU salutes its affiliated Organizations such as AIBEA who have played a pioneer role for the success of this strike struggling for the demands of the working people concerning the immediate wage revision and the stopping of the banking sector reforms.
The two-days strike concluding on February 11th, has seen the participation of 1 million people and in various cities such as Mumbai it has been total.
The WFTU representing 86 million workers in 126 countries expresses its solidarity with the striking employees in the banking sector in India and joins their call for the implementation of their fair demands.
