On June 14, 2024, the Inaugural Meeting of the WFTU Working Youth Committee of the English-speaking Africa Region was held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
During the meeting, the challenges and the tasks of the militant young trade unionists in the region we discussed. A coordinating committee of the Working Youth in the region was appointed. The main objective of this committee is to design and implement a plan of action for the class-oriented working youth in English-speaking Africa, so that its action responds to the contemporary needs of young workers, and strengthens the voice of the WFTU.
After the meeting, a seminar was held, with the subject of “the Role of the Youth in the International Trade Union Movement”. In the seminar, the class approach on the issue of age inequalities in the workplaces was analyzed, as well as the main duties, tasks and goals of the class-oriented trade union movement in the struggle for the satisfaction of the contemporary needs of the youth.
