An official meeting was held this morning at the WFTU Headquarters in Athens between the WFTU and ICATU.
The meeting was held in a climate of honesty, brotherhood and internationalism.
Issues that have to do with the situation of workers in all countries of the Arab World and the whole region were discussed. The two parts also discussed about the problems of the refugees and immigrants, who leave their countries because if the imperialist aggression.
From his side, the ICATU General Secretary, brother Rajab Maatoug, made a briefing on the situation in ICATU and the priorities of the organization for 2015.
The leadership of the WFTU expressed once more its stable support for ICATU and its leadership.
The WFTU, like it has always done, continues today to respect the independence of ICATU and ICATU’s right to decide on its present and future.
The WFTU calls all its affiliates and friends in the Arab World to actively support the ICATU, to confront the slanders and the divisive scenarios of the ITUC.
The yellow trade unions want the Arab trade union movement divided; they want it to be weak, like a puppet in the plans of the imperialist for the so called “New Middle East”.
It’s a duty for all our affiliates and friends to resist these dirty plans and express even louder and in practice their internationalism and solidarity with the heroic Palestinian People, with the peoples of Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Libya who fight against the plans of the imperialists and the zionists.
Our brothers in the Arab World,
we make a call to all of you, to defend together the rights of the Arab workers. Fight all together for better salaries, for better social security, for trade union and democratic liberties for women and men in all Arab countries.
