Dear colleagues,
The World Federation of Trade Unions, during its 75 years of action, has always been at the forefront in promoting internationally radical demands in the interest of the workers. Today, once more, it dares to do so. Honoring the 75 years of the WFTU historic course, we give the slogan of the fight in order to demand at world level: 35 HOURS OF WORK PER WEEK.
Today, when the scientific and technological progress and the utilization of ever-new scientific advances in the productive process, increase the labor productivity, it is socially unfair the profits to be channeled for the benefit of the capitalists. The WFTU believes that the profits should be given for the improvement of working conditions of all workers of the planet. We should work fewer hours with better wages and conditions that promote cultural, humanitarian and environmental progress.
The demand for a generalized implementation of the 35-HOUR workweek is a demand of fight, struggle, a demand of life and at the same time a realistic demand.
Let this slogan rise high this year on the International Workers’ Day. The poster we are sending you can decorate our militant initiatives in every corner of the globe. United we can achieve this goal too!
