A trade union bilateral official meeting has been held between the WFTU Secretariat, represented by George Mavrikos, General Secretary and Valentin Pacho Quispe, Deputy General Secretary and a delegation of the General Trade Union of Press, Printing and Information of Egypt, formed by Mr. Ahmed Zaki, Vicepresident for International Relations, Mr. Mahdy Abdelzahr and Mrs. Galila Osman, Vicepresident for Women Affairs.
The delegations discussed important issues on the press, printing and media sectors and how to overcome the problems of the workers. The Egyptian colleagues, informed the WFTU Secretariat on the situation of the workers of their sector. WFTU General Secretary George Mavrikos stressed the fact that the sector of press and media in general is of crucial importance. The Egyptian delegation also have asked for the WFTU support to the Egyptian people and their efforts to complete their democratic path and finalize the road plan that will achieve the benefits and interests of the Egyptian workers.
Both parties stresses the importance and the need of WFTU work in this important sector and the meeting was an opportunity to set a new starting point for the WFTU activity in said sector. Soon, more initiatives and actions planned for the press and printing sector will be put forward by the WFTU, calling all press and printing unions affiliated to the WFTU from all over the world.
