FISE, the World Federation of Teachers Unions, affiliated with WFTU, expresses its solidarity with the workers and teachers of Brazil and Argentina in view of their mobilizations.
The Confederation of Teachers of Brazil will hold a 10-day strike, starting on March 15, against the reform about the Social Security planned by the reactionary Government of Michel Temer which resulted by the overthrow of the social democratic government of Dilma Rousseff.
The teachers have gathered almost 1million signatures of participation in the strike and they call on other sectors, as well, to join them, demanding the withdrawal of the bill that suggests the increase of the retirement age for all workers, men and women, abolishing the special provisions for teachers and farmers.
At the same time, protests are held in Argentina by teachers who held their fifth strike since the beginning of this month and they’re holding a new 48-hour one on Wednesday and Thursday. The teachers react against the government of Mauricio Macri and the local governments for not satisfying their demands.
FISE is sending a solidarity message and warm militant greetings to Brazilian workers and teachers through the trade unions of CTB. It also salutes the teachers of Argentina who are holding protests and wishes success in their struggles.
