WFTU Representative, Alexandra Liberi and TUI HOTOUR General Secretary, Mamdouh Mohamady, held a meeting with the representatives of the trade union committee of hotel and tourism workers in Alexandria, Egypt on April 13th, 2016.
The problems of the tourism and hotel workers in Egypt were in the epicenter of the discussion as well as the achievements of the trade union committees and General Trade Union of Tourism and Hotel Workers in the defense of their rights and collective bargaining agreements.
The importance of internationalist solidarity and class unity of hotel workers in achieving their objectives was hightlighted by the WFTU Representative. She underlined that it is a honor but also an important responsibility to hold the the position of General Secretary of TUI Hotour and asked them to help strengthen the efforts for the coordination of hotel workers internationally.
On the other hand, the TUI Hotour &Tourism, General Secretary Mr.Mamdouh Mohamady praised the WFTU and its militant role since 70 years in the service of the working class all over the world. He mentioned that WFTU supported the 17 workers who have been fired by the management of Marriot Hotel and with pressure 10 workers came back to their jobs and there are being negociations for the rest.
