Continuing their program at the 1st WFTU Youth Camping, the participants joined yesterday, the 11th of September, a massive, militant internationalist rally in Larnaka, Cyprus. They had the opportunity to meet with hundreds of people that participated in the rally organized by PEO.
Mpampis Kyritsis, General Secretary of PEO was the key speaker at the demonstration.
Amongst his words where the following:
“The young people are the ones who are mostly impacted by the consequences of the capitalist crisis and are experience in the harshest manner the anti-labour policies that are applied. However, there are the most dynamic part of the working class and upon them we are basing our hopes and the perspective of the class-oriented trade union movement.
This important event organized by PEO and WFTU is unfortunately coinciding with the thread of yet another bloody war in our tormented neighborhood. The military invasion that is being planned in the Syrian territories by the USA and their allies, if implemented, will bring unpredictable and extremely dangerous developments for peace and safety in the whole region. We denounce any such thought for the use of military operations to solve the Syrian problem.
The WFTU which remains always the real representative of the class-oriented trade union forces around the world, is working systematically for solidarity, coalition and unity of the class-oriented forces. It are very positive that what can overthrow the course of things, is only the energetic and determined resistance of the popular factor. The social and trade union struggles. We as the class-oriented trade union movement are the ones who have the duty to be in the frontline of the battle.”
Representatives of the young trade unionists addressed the rally followed by a cultural item of internationalist songs.
The greetings on behalf of the participants were addressed by Al Zahraa Souheil from Lebanon, Menu Manohar Vaman from India, Polykarpos Takas from PAME Greece and the member of the Secretariat of the WFTU Youth Commitee Lulamile Sibanda.
Joining the WFTU Youth Camping from South Africa, cde Lulamile Sibanda in his greetings speech on behalf of WFTU noted that:“We are gathered here as future cadres of the international class-oriented trade union movement to develop class-oriented and political consciousness. We are here as children of the working class to analyze the world where we live in with a scientific approach.
As the future of the class-oriented trade union movement we refuse to inherit a world as it is today. We commit ourselves in the objective for the creation of a better world, a more humane world, a socialist world where exploitation of human-by-human will not exist.”
And he continued: “Under the vast revolutionary flag of the WFTU we commit ourselves to deepen the proletarian internationalism amongst the young workers.
In this framework we will fight next to the people of Syria, of Cuba, of Western Sahara, of Swaziland, of Palestine to expose and isolate the barbarity of the US-led imperialism, against the Zionist, genocidal embargo applied by Israel.
We have no doubt that the WFTU of Moses Mabhida and Eric Mtshali will provide the necessary guidance to the youthful militancy of the Youth Secretariat of the WFTU”.
