Contract workers in Iran working in Oil and Natural Gas sectors and Petrochemical complexes, Power Plant etc. under the banner of ‘Council for Organizing Non-Permanent Oil Workers’ are on country wide strike since June 19, 2024.
The striking workers are calling for a 14-day rotational duty schedule similar to permanent workers, an end to private employment agencies and contracting, wage increases, and enhancements in living conditions such as cleanliness in dormitories, better food in canteens, improved transport to work sites, and stronger workplace safety measures.
Solidarity messages are sent from several trade unions world wide.
