Luis Chavarría, general secretary of UNDECA, said: “We demand the construction of the new hospital, backed by the irrefutable and multiple official reports and opinions of experts from various institutions, including geotechnicians and geologists. The Engineers and Architects Association and the Geologists Association have stated that the land available to the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) is suitable for construction. Marta Esquivel’s unwise opposition, lacking technical foundations, undermines the institution’s operability, increases the costs of the work and puts the health of thousands of people at risk”.
