The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), representing 95 million affiliated workers in 130 countries around the world, stands in solidarity with the Brazilian people after the breakdown of a mining dam in Brumadinho, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. According to official notes, there are already 65 confirmed deaths and about 292 missing persons.
For the big class-oriented trade union family of the WFTU, it is once more revealed the total neglect of the capitalist model for the working class as well as the criminal negligence of the bourgeois governments, which have no commitment whatsoever to the people and their real needs.
The WFTU reiterates all its support and internationalist solidarity with the people of Brazil and, at the same time, demands justice and immediate punishment to the perpetrators of that crime. In the same way, expressing its heartfelt condolences, it urges the competent authorities to give aid to the victims and to the families of the victims.
