Below you can read the WFTU resolution. In the picture you can see the WFTU and GUPW representatives delivering the Statement today at the Israel embassy in Athens.
The working class worldwide is being hit mercilessly by the consequences of the capitalist crisis, and it is being target of a harsh attack on their rights, and even their lives. It is also suffering from wars of the imperialist forces with the bloodshed of thousands of people.
Today the UN is discussing the claim for an independent Palestinian State.
We support the struggle of the Palestinian people and we demand the satisfaction of this fair demand for the recognition of an independent, viable and sovereign Palestinian state on the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, as a full member of the UN.
We condemn the attempt by the U.S. and Israel to veto the Palestinian demand. The WORLD FEDERATION OF TRADE UNIONS which is based in Athens, representing 80 million members in 130 countries submits today 23/09/2011 the following demands to the Israeli embassy located in Greece.
• The withdrawal of the occupying Israeli forces from Palestinian territories.
• The end of the settlements and the withdrawal of all settlers.
• The demolition of the unacceptable separation wall.
• The return of the Palestinian refugees to their homes.
• The lifting of the blockade of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. • The immediate release of imprisoned Palestinians and other political prisoners kept in the Israeli prisons
