The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing more than 97 million workers in 130 countries of the world condemns the anti-labor plans of the government of Indonesia for the reviewing of the employment law the country.
The pursued reforms will have as a result the reducing of the wages and rights of the workers with contagion effects on the conditions and standards of living of the popular strata in Indonesia.
The international class-oriented trade union movement stands on the side of the Indonesia workers and the class-oriented trade union movement of the country which is taking a dynamic role in the demonstrations and the protests against the anti-labor policy of the Indonesian government.
The WFTU strongly condemns the police repression against the protesters and the trade unionists. We demand the immediate release and withdrawal of all charges against the protesters who were arrested just because they are struggling for their rights. We call the Indonesian workers to actively support the struggles against the review of the employment law until the final withdrawal of this anti-labor goal.
