The WFTU expresses its strong condemnation for the new labor accident as a landslide at a Myanmar mine killed 14 people. The majority of the victims are workers who were working in the mine during the landslide. Once again miners lost their lives, working in a mine which was operating without adequate safety and protection measures.
Our thoughts are with the families and the relatives of the poor workers who died trying to earn their living for them and their families in dangerous and miserable working conditions.
The WFTU demands the investigation of the new labor accident and the punishment of those responsible. The class-oriented trade union movement will continue its relentless struggle for the implementation of adequate health and safety protective measures at the workplaces and all the aspect of the workers’ lives.
