The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing 92 million workers in the 5 continents, expresses its solidarity with the farmers in Sri Lanka who were not compensated for the drought that prevailed during the last seasons.
The farmers organize protest campaigns, demanding compensation of Rs. 10,000 per month as the government has promised to them. The protest campaigns start from today 24th May 2017. The WFTU and the international class oriented trade union movement stand on the side of the farmer community, supporting their fair demands.
