The World Federation of Trade Union, on behalf of its more than 100 million workers in 132 countries of the 5 continents, denounce the death of two people after the police attack on a workers’ protest in Bangladesh. The Crown Wears workers were demanding their unpaid wages and benefits by blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway at Jamirdia area of Bhaluka in Mymensingh on Monday, April 6th, 2020.
The unacceptable attack of police resulted in several injured workers and at least 2 people who were killed by a moving truck and died on the spot, trying to escape from the attack.
The World Federation of Trade Unions strongly condemns the repression against the fair demands of the Crown Wears workers and demand the full payment of their wages. We also demand the investigation of the real conditions that led to the death of the two people. The international class-oriented trade union movement condemns every violation of the workers’ rights any attempt of elimination of the trade union rights and freedoms.
