The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing 92 million members in 126 countries all over the world, expresses its internationalist solidarity to the Italian trade unionists of USB, member of WFTU, who received notices of guarantee for serious crimes such as interruption of public service, unauthorized demonstration and others in relation to the demonstrations that the day after the assassination of Abd El Salam crossed Piacenza.
Their only “crime” was that they were in the front-line of the demonstrations for the assassination of cde Abd El Salam who was killed in front of the company where he worked, during a protest for the rights of logistics workers in GLS on September 14th 2016. These actions prove the limits of the democracy of Capitalists and their governments in Europe and around the world. Trade unionists are assassinated, prosecuted and arrested because they were struggling for their rights.
The WFTU stands by the side of USB and demands from the Italian government to definitively stop the prosecution of the trade union leaders. We call the workers of Italy to strengthen the class oriented trade unions in their country.
