The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing 105 million workers from 130 countries expresses its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the two miners that are killed in a fatal occupational accident in Much Minerals Enterprises Pvt Ltd.
Thousands of laborers are added to the bloody and endless list of the miners who have been sacrificed for the sake of profit of the big mining companies under the indifference of the competent authorities. According to Trade Unions, more at least 169 miners died in mines of Pakistan and tens of others have severely injured only the last 10 months. The responsibilities for the continuing murder of miners who are forced to work in unhealthy and dangerous conditions are huge.
We demand an independent investigation of the “accident” and exemplary punishment of the responsible ones. Compensation to the families of victims and all injured laborers of occupational accidents. Immediate and adequate implementation of health and safety measures in all workplaces.
