The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing 92 million workers in the 5 continents, strongly condemns the legal action of Cambrew, a Carlsberg subsidiary, against workers. The company demands 60000 USD as compensation for the 5days strike from 100 workers in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
This legal action is not the first attack of the company against the workers’ rights and trade union freedoms rights and of course is not an isolated incident for the bourgeois. Such attacks are the implementation of the bourgeois strategy to disarm the trade union movement from the great right of striking. They afraid of the organized struggles and solidarity among the workers. They afraid of the militant demand for the working class benefits through mass struggle and strikes which is the only way for the workers to satisfy their contemporary needs.
The World Federation of Trade Unions expresses its solidarity and support to the workers of Cambrew and declares in each direction that the right of striking is an non-negotiable right and such practices will always fail because they make us even more decisive to follow the path of the class oriented and relentless struggles. We call the working class and the class oriented trade union movement worldwide to denounce this practices and support the workers Cambrew and the right to strike.
