Following an official Invitation from the leadership of the WFTU to the leadership of CITU India, comrades A.K. Padmanabhan, Tapan Sen and Swadesh Dev Roye, President, General Secretary and Head of International Relations respectively visited the headquarters of Athens on October 30 to November 3, 2010.
The Indian trade union leaders held bilateral meetings with the Secretariat of the WFTU, the Greek Federation of Construction Workers, the Federation of Textile and Clothing of Greece, the Trade Union of Metal of Piraeus and the leadership of PAME.
They spoke at a meeting of economic migrants living in Greece and had a fellow meeting with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece.
All these activities have been reported in the Media.
In all these meetings and contacts the common class-oriented positions of trade unions for a coordinated fight against capitalist barbarism and against imperialism were confirmed. The positions on the crisis of the capitalist system and the negative consequences for the world working class were also common.
In the spirit of mutual respect, comradely feelings, democracy and open dialogue the delegations of CITU and WFTU agreed to continue joint efforts at sectoral, regional and global level.
