In 1955 Pablo Picasso dedicated this painting entitled “The song of the rivers” to the WFTU on its 10th anniversary.
The musical score is by Dmitri Shostakovich, with lyrics written by Berthold Brecht, and songs performed by German Ernst Busch

Later on this painting was used as cover of the film-documentary under the same name directed by Joris Ivens, with music by Dmitri Shostakovich, poetry by Bertolt Brecht, narrated by Paul Robeson. The film depicts the life of six major rivers, the Amazon, the Mississippi, the Nile, the Ganges, the Yangtze and the Volga.
