The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) representing 92 million workers in 126 countries of all continents reiterates its solidarity with its affiliate, Oilfields Workers Trade Union (OWTU) in Trinidad and Tobago.
The world class-oriented trade union movement supports our brothers’ struggles in Trinidad and Tobago who are organizing a massive demonstration and rally today, on August the 4th. We stand by the working class and popular strata of Trinidad and Tobago who demand the immediate end of austerity in their country as well as the end of mass retrenchement. They also fight for the settling of outstanding negotiations, for the end to Contract labour and the support for local farmers as well as for sustainable jobs.
The WFTU will firmly continue to fight shoulder to shoulder with the OWTU, for the attainment of the workers contemporary needs, until the abolishment of man by man exploitation.
Long live international solidarity!
Victory to the Trinidad and Tobago working class!
