The World Federation of Trade Unions, the militant voice of 105 million workers in 133 countries around the globe, reiterates its solidarity with the Palestinian Prisoners in Israeli jails and demands their immediate release.
More than 4.600 Palestinians (among whom 34 women, 160 children, 500 administrative detainees and 9 members of legislative council) are in Israeli Jails, under harsh detention conditions, in violation of the international laws and human rights. Hisham Abu Hawash was in hunger strike for 140 days protesting against his illegal administrative detention and many prisoners are in hunger strike. Naser Abu Hmaid is in a critical situation and he can lose his life in Israeli Jails any time. We urge for his protection and immediate release.
The WFTU has launched an International Campaign for the release of Palestinian child prisoners and all Palestinian prisoners. Many militant protests and interventions to International Organizations have taken place by the WFTU and various trade unions in Palestine and in several countries all over the world.
The international, class-oriented trade union movement, along with its struggle for the recognition of the independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and for the end of the Israeli occupation, will continue and intensify its struggle for the release of all Palestinian prisoners. The International Organizations must play their role in this direction. The Palestinian prisoners are not alone!
