FISE International Teleconference on the occasion of WFTU 75th Anniversary and World Action Day of FISE

The Teleconference of the World Federation of Teachers’ Unions, FISE, organized by CNTE Section XVIII Michoacan-Mexico and FISE, took place on 06.10.2020 with numerous participants from Mexico, India, Brazil, Panama, Nepal, the USA, Morocco, Chile, Greece, Argentina, Peru, Paraguay and Galicia under the topic “The impact of COVID-19 on the rights of teachers – Immediate need for protection measures against the Pandemic for students and teachers”. Militant teachers from all over the world discussed on the huge problems caused by the Pandemic, such as distance learning, lack of infrastructure and protection measures at schools, reduction of salaries and precariousness among teachers. The WFTU General Secretary, comrade George Mavrikos, greeted the Conference, while the FISE leaders and militants concluded on demands such as free and public education, free internet and necessary equipment for distance learning, appropriate schools with small number of students per classroom, free personal protection measures against the Pandemic of COVID-19.
