The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), representing 97 million workers affiliated in 130 countries of the five continents, expresses its internationalist solidarity to the strike at the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), convened for the 5th and 6th of August.
The international class-oriented trade union movement is in solidarity with the combative appeal of its affiliated unions and the other class organizations fighting in Costa Rica for the defense of workers’ achievements in the health sector of the Central American country. The WFTU adds its voice to that of our class brothers and sisters in Costa Rica who demand, among other claims, the non-implementation of the Fiscal Rule and the reduction of budgets that will affect patient and insured care services. Furthermore, we reject any intention of privatization and delivery of health care services to the big capital.
The big class union family of the WFTU commits itself to continue firmly on the side of the people and the Costa Rican working class for the satisfaction of their contemporary needs, for the claim of a universal, public and free health care system for all.
