The Confederation of Nepalese Professionals-CONEP, Nepal is going to organize a three days 1st National Women Conference on March 6-8, 2014 on the auspicious occasion of the 104th International Working Women’s Day.
The conference will begin from March 6 with grand rally and will be converged at National City Hall, Kathmandu.
About 600 women leaders and delegates throughout the nationwide 14 zones, 75 districts and 24 affiliated trade union federation of CONEP will take part in the conference.
The opening session of the conference will be inaugurated by Former Prime Minister and senior leader of the CPN UML Comrade Madhav Kumar Nepal.
In the conference on behalf of World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), Comrade Soula Lamboudi will take part as a special guest.
Following the conference, in the theme ” the role of women workers in the changing context, a symposium also will be organized and various papers in issues of women workers i.e. ‘The impact of Capitalism and Neo liberalism on women workers, Maternity protection rights and the ratification of ILO 183, 102 and 87, the importance of 8 March and participation of women workers in national and international trade union movement, the problems of women workers to participate in the trade union movement and resolving the challenges, will be presented from various resource persons.
The outcome of the discussion of the 3 days conference will be declared as Kathmandu declaration on March 8.
