The World Federation of Trade Unions extents its internationalist solidarity to the teachers and employees of the private educational institutions in Bangladesh, who are asking for their inclusion in the Monthly Payment Order System (MPO) of the Government.
The private schools teachers and employees have been protesting since June 10th, 2018 and they have also started a hunger strike since the beginning of July in front of the National Press Club Dhaka, the Capital City of Bangladesh, until their demands are fulfilled.
Nearly 80,000 teachers of 5,000 Non-government school are now outside the scope of the MPO system, although the government of Bangladesh has assured to fulfill their demand last January.
On the behalf of its 92 million members in 126 countries in the 5 continents, the WFTU supports the struggle of the private schools teachers and employees of Bangladesh and of the BTUC, we are joining our voice with them and we demand the respect of their working rights and decent payment for their work. We urge the competent authorities for the immediate fulfillment of their just demands.
