A three members WFTU delegation composed by Said Elsayed Mohamed Rashwan, Caroline Samir Boushra Henin from ETUF Egypt and George Bazionis, WFTU Councilor is taking part in the 44th Session of ALC in Cairo, Egypt.
In the framework of the Session the WFTU delegates are holding billateral meetings with the affiliates and friends of WFTU and addressed a speech on April 11th.
Following the speech of the WFTU representative:
Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Arab World,
Allow me to convey to you my greetings of behalf of the Leadership of the World Federation of Trade Unions and best wishes for the success of your Conference.
First of all i would like to convey our condolences to theEgyptian people and families of the victims of the attacks in Egypt.
The WFTU since its foundation in 1945 has always supported the fair and just demands of the peoples of Arab Countries for independence against colonialism and the plots of imperialism.
The Arab World have always been at the center of imperialists’ attention and plots due to its rich natural resources and geopolitical location in the world map. The World Federation of Trade Unions has always been stably and clearly on the side of Arab Peoples: We all know that wars in Syria, Libya, Iraq are not conducted for the control of the energy routes, for the geostrategic benefits. A few days ago, on March 30st, the WFTU affiliates and friends in all the five continents expressed militantly their solidarity to the Palestinian people against Israeli aggressiveness and occupation. In more than 50 countries they organized manifestations, workshops and protests to inform the workers of their countries on the Palestinian Issue. We united our voices and demanded “STOP TO THE SETTLEMENTS-RECOGNITION OF AN INDEPENDENT PALESTINIAN STATE!”
The World Federation of Trade Unions has openly denounced the role of the different imperialistic centers that function by political, military or other means in order to control the countries, to steal their wealth, to establish their short-term and long-term interests in the region. This Conference takes place while the people of the Arab World face the results of this aggressiveness. at the same time, they are facing many serious everyday problems: High unemployment, Low Salaries, No social Security, problems with housing and medical care.
After all these years of Imperialistic Interventions and plots we face an enormous wave of refugees and economic migrants. The WFTU again prioritizes and supports their rights both human and labor ones. We denounce the anti-democratic and inhuman policies of the European Union and its governments as well as the government of Turkey. They play with the lives of the refugees leading them to lose their lives in the Mediterranean, exploited by traffickers, whereas they could be transferred by plane to the countries of destination.
The World Federation of Trade Unions, after its 17th World trade Union Congress in Africa is even more prepared to defend the workers’ benefits around the world, is even stronger in every continent of the world, because WFTU truly believes that the people and only the people have the right to decide for their present and future, that the wealth of each country must be used for the benefit and the prosperity of its people. We defend the right of the Arab Workers to live with dignity in their countries. Dignity means stable work, decent salary, appropriate housing, free health and education, water and medicines for everyone.
Dear brothers and sisters,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to express one more time the support of the WFTU to the people of the Arab World.
The WFTU respects the contribution of the Arab people, your civilizations, your cultural legacy, your history, your struggles.
Together with the members of the WFTU which are the biggest organizations in the Arab World we will continue to work with all our powers for the unity of the Arab people against imperialism for the improvement of the lives of Arab workers.
I wish to the Conference of the Arab Labour Organization every success.
Long live the heroic struggle of Palestinian People!
