ANNOUNCEMENT – PROTEST

The World Federation of Trade Unions expresses its militant, fraternal and class-oriented solidarity with the Confederation of Public Workers’ Unions, KESK which is facing the brutal antilabour and undemocratic attack of the Turkish Government. Trade Union Cadres, trade union leaders, amongst them the President of KESK, brother  Lami Özgenare being imprisoned with false charges.

The true cause of this antilabour attack is to strike the resistance of the workers and the people of Turkey who struggle for labour rights, for social insurance, for living wages, for social rights.

The judicial and condemnatory rulings aim to terrorize the workers and to further limit the trade union freedoms in Turkey.

The World Federation of Trade Unions which represents 82 million members in 125 countries of the five continents, demands the immediate release of all the militants of KESK and all the trade unionists and ordinary workers.

The WFTU demands the end of the state violence and persecutions, the right to strike and trade union rights to be respected.

The World Federation of Trade Unions will strongly express the class-oriented solidarity to the militant trade union movement of Turkey, so that the violations of labour and trade union rights in Turkey will become known in international level.
A protest will be addressed to the International Labour Office and other International Organisations
