RESOLUTION OF SOLIDARITY WITH THE STRUGGLE OF THE WORKERS OF FRALIB FACTORY BY UNILEVER MULTINATIONAL IN FRANCE
The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) expresses its full class solidarity with the strike of over 600 days of the workers of Fralib factory against the closing down of the factory, against the business strategy of selling the production plant, the relocation the production and the elimination of 182 jobs just to increase profits. Fralib is the only packaging plant of tea and infusions by Unilever multinational in France. All studies of the expert accounting commission of the Fralib Works Committee show the profitability of the factory.
Workers reject unemployment, insecurity and poverty. They require an alternative solution. They demand the production and packaging of tea and infusions to remain in Gémenos; the mark ‘Thé de l’Eléphant’, established for 119 years in Provence, to continues its business and to keep the jobs. They demand to Unilever Group to maintain the industrial activity and protect the jobs. Unilever must take responsibility.
The WFTU as militant class-oriented trade union organization condemns the attitude of the transnational corporation. We ask UNILEVER to listen to and to solve the demandsraised by the striking workers. On behalf of the 82 million workers in 120 countries affiliated to the WFTU we reiterates our solidarity and support to this fair struggle.
