Foundation of the new TUI HOTUR

The Foundation Congress for the new TUI for the branch of Tourism and Hotels was successfully held on December 1-2, 2009 in a hotel of the centre of Athens, Greece. The foundation of this new branch trade union organization, which belongs to the big WFTU family, means a new step of progress, a new step of organizational development of the class-oriented trade union movement.
68 trade unionists from 17 countries participated in the foundation Congress. The discussions were very rich and the priorities for the workers of the tourism-hotels sector were analyzed. They discussed about the demands of the workers of the sector and the need to coordinate the WFTU affiliates and friends. At the end of the discussions a resolution was approved. This resolution opens new paths in the sector. Also, the TUI leadership was formed and it was agreed to settle the headquarters in Athens, financed by the trade union of tourism-hotel workers, affiliated to PAME.
